Grand Buffet Star Chinese in Pittsfield

I was on my way to the mall to pickup my daughter and her friend at the movies when she called and asked if I'd pick them up "orange chicken and rice". Orange chicken was not on the menu but the owner and the waitress seemed to know what I wanted and said that one $10 order would be enough for two 13 year-olds, they were friendly and helpful. I looked at the sushi and buffet while there and despite being 9:30 everything looked very good. My daughter and her friend told me their food was delicious.

Go here every now and then, I liked the location but I want to like the food to! So far every time I have gone Itnhas been the same items, Wontons are doughy and flavorless, Same with the sweet and sour chicken, Wish they switched their food provider to someone with a little higher quality, everything tastes the same, Sushi is amazing here though, every time I have gone there has always been a gentleman attending to the sushi, so thank god for that! Restrooms were ok, Staff is friendly, Prices are ok all things considered.

Good selection of food and nice people

The buffet food was cold. We went at 11:30am. They open at 11am. Maybe if you go later when fresh food comes out it will be hot. Server had no personality at all!

Excellent food and service for a very reasonable price. The variety of dishes is also impressive, ensuring that every visit provides a unique dining experience. My personal favorite is the hibachi grill, which gives you the option to craft your own special entree.

How do people eat substandard food? Food is just not worth eating. I have tried this place twice and this was definitely my last time. The grill cook overcooked the food with water. If I wanted my food boiled I would of ask for it to be. No flavor. Just gross.

A great selection of food and freshly made sushi. We always visit when we come over from England.

Really great buffet dinning restaurant! I highly recommend, especially if you're into sushi. While the sushi fare doesn't have that much varity, it seemed very fresh to me, someone who truly LOVES and KNOWS what sushi should taste like.The rest of the offerings are what you would expect to find in an Asian restaurant, and it all tasted great to me.If you find yourself in this restaurant's area, stop on in. This is a great buffet. Tons of options and everything seemed fresh. Price is very good as well. Awesome wait staff. Hibachi is included and is also excellent. The guy that commented about threatening fortune cookies made me lol.

Love going here. Huge buffet with lots of options. Been eating here for over 10 years at least monthly and never had issues with the service or quality of the food. Occasionally when their very busy they'll run out of something, but it's only a short wait for it to come out. In the meantime there's plenty of other options to keep you busy. Fresh hibachi grilled right in front of you by the plateful. Sushi bar. Now we have kids and they love it too. Shrimp cocktail, mussels, steamers, lots of quality options. Our favorite place to eat!

The price is fair, food was good, staff are always nice. Sometimes there seems to be an over abundance of chicken, and that is the only downside sometimes but it's a Buffett and the grill is a nice touch.

Good place to go a get some nice American-Chinese

Got there before lunch was over. When bill came we were charged for dinner hour. Seafood counts as dinner hour.

Very inexpensive for the lunch buffet ($10 for buffet + soda for 1) but the food was poor quality for even a buffet. Wasn't bad or inedible or anything just bland and pedestrian. If you're on a budget and want to stuff your face it's a good deal, if you're looking for quality Chinese food look elsewhere

Food was ok this time. Needed fresher food. Couldnt eat the gold fingers cause they were over cooked & hard. Bathroom needed to be cleaned.

Arrived after typical dinner hours. (7:30ish) still a decent selection. Not as hot as I'd like it, but stll good!

They gave me food poisoning and tried to charge my friends for water. But we got their pen so who’s the winner now?

I have been working out of town, and stopped into this Chinese Buffet, after looking at reviews (most reviews are bad) I almost turned away. But I'm glad I didn't. The food was great. The Shushi was also really appetizing. I have no complaints at all with this place.

When it really comes down to it, what you come for is food. And its very good. Hibachi and sushi is included and the hibachi is insanely good. The workers are always friendly to us. The prices are very low so its not breaking the bank if you don't want to cook. Just as good as Koto in my opinion, but for half the cost.

Food tasted really gross tonight. Sushi tasted like it was made two days ago, everything tasted old. Seems like they used old oil.

The sushi was turning grey/yellow and the food was dry and stale. It seemed like it had been there for hours/days. My husband went to get fruit and a bunch of flies were on it. I got food poisoning from eating here. Someone should call the health inspector because this place is completely disgusting and unsanitary. AVOID!

Good selection and friendly staff. I have had continually great food from here. Of you don't see something for take out then you can order a fresh carry out. Reasonble portions for the price. You can't beat the take out price.

When they keep fresh food out,it is very delicious.staff should not be sweeping floors when customers r there.or near food bar.should buy one of the push vac.that is not motorized.

It was ok , I had some muscles and asked for butter and got told the butter was just for dinner so I was willing to pay I told her to please bring me some and never got it

The lighting was fun, food was quite good. I had seconds on crab Rangoon. There is a hibachi grill AND a buffet. No alcohol until April though. Still, we seriously considered going back a second night in a row.

Good food all you can eat!!!

The food was a little stale since we arrived between lunch and dinner. Excellent selection, including sushi.

Really good, as strip mall buffets go. Really, really good. A little small, so the offerings are light. But they are great... Seafood, the basics, nice hibachi, and really nice sushi. Dinner was 15 with to tip for one, and I'd recommend it anyday.

It's - meh.There's nothing to specifically recommend this place. It's ordinary in the same way that almost all Chinese buffets are (it had the same decor as places I've been that are 80 miles away - I can only imagine that food is likewise sourced like that).It's really annoying that these places offer about 40% "American" food when the real range of Chinese food is SO amazing (can we get rid of the french fries or the mac and cheese, and replace them with two authentic Chinese dishes - it would be a great way to introduce people to Chinese cuisine beyond General Tso's Chicken - something Szechuan, or Hakka, or Hunan or even Cantonese). They have hibachi - sort of - but I wish they'd use that space for a Mongolian grill. But if your main interest is all-you-can-eat for a low price, then it'll do.

I went there for the habachi. They did not have any choices on display. I did not get anything from that. They did not have many choices on buffet.What they put out was not much. They did not refill anything while I was there. I was there around 6pm. I wanted wonton soup they did not have any. They where more expensive than others. I would not go back. And would not recommend.

I went there on a Friday evening right at dinner time ready to eat. I have been to many buffets. I was really disappointed. Nothing looked fresh, which was ashame because if the hot food looked old, could only guess how old the sushi would be. I did try the food because I was so hungry. Nothing had any real flavor to it. I tried a wide variety of there food except the fish because again it all looked old. Even the deserts looks sketchy.. did even not try.

Absolutely awful. The food was obviously several days old and it was completely gross. Every chicken dish was dried out. The table top was wobbly and sticky. The manager guy was rude and I saw him get mad a some people for not finishing the food on their plates and accusing them of wasting food. It made us feel very uncomfortable. I tried the hibachi hoping for some salvation and I asked the lady who was cooking to please "not use any oil", and, instead, she ruins it completely by throwing a gob of butter on just before serving it to me. They played this disco pop music that was so annoying I could barely carry on a conversation. I will never go again. Better food across the street.
